It's happening in Bmore! June 29-July 5

Take a break from Baltimore's recordbreaking heatwave with us tomorrow four our Happy Hour at Nick's Fish House on the water in South Baltimore! We'll be there from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to meet and mingle with you -- our fabulous readers! You'll be able to meet the Bmore staff and pitch us your best ideas for stories you'd like to see on the site!

This weekend also happens to be the 4th of July! Naturally, there are a bevy of events -- traditional and non-traditional -- taking place in and around Baltimore to commemorate the nation's 234th birthday.

If 4th of July means family and fireworks and you don't mind a crowd, our pick is the Ports America Chesapeake Independence Day fireworks celebration at the Inner Harbor. The fun kicks off at 2 p.m. at the Ampitheater with local jazz band, Lovecraft. The celebration picks up again as Electric Brigade, the U.S. Naval Academy Band hits the stage at 8 p.m. The annual fireworks show will burst into the night's sky around 9:30 p.m.

In between the action at the ampthiteater take time out for a picnic! Just steps away from the center of Sunday's celebrations you can enjoy a picnic at the top of the World Trade Center on its Observation deck. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. the eclectic sounds of Tom Gavin's DJ Delights will captivate you while you take in the wonderful views of the Inner Harbor spectacular fireworks display. Picnic at the Top offers a continuous buffet provided by Atlantic Catering. Tickets purchased before Saturday, July 3 cost $65 for adults and $25 for children. Tickets will cost $75 for adults and $30 for children after the July 3 special. Tickets are available at the Top of the World Gift Shop or by calling 410-837-8439.

For something a little more adventurous, our pick is Tilted Torch's Salute to the Union at the Creative Alliance.The one-night only show brings the sparklers and excitement of a parade into The Patterson! Miss Joule and Malibu's fire blazes, star-spangled pasties courtesy Maria Bella, the amazing balancing skills of Lizzie Lyra and Brent Balancer, the whimsical songs of the Sweater Set, and Belladonna's bellydance moves. MC Mab Just Mab. Raffle! Prizes!!! 8pm. $15, $12 mbrs. Members Happy Hour 7 p.m. with food, $2 drinks & priority seating. Free ticket if you join.
